Biography

Pierre-Alain Killias was born in Beijing (People’s Republic of China) in 1962. He obtained a law degree from the University of Fribourg in 1986, graduating magna cum laude, and an LL.M. (in International Business Legal Studies) from the University of Exeter in England in 1992.

In 1996, he was awarded a doctorate in law by the University of Fribourg, summa cum laude.

After completing his legal traineeship at Keppeler, Maurer, Kroo & Sprigi in Geneva (1986-1988), he worked as an assistant at CEDIDAC and then as a lawyer at Haymann & Baldi in Zurich. He has also worked for Pirenne, Python, Schifferli, Peter & Associés in Pully, Keppeler & Associés in Geneva and Gillioz, Dorsaz in Geneva. From 2007 to June 2017, he was a partner at Lexartis Avocats in Lausanne.

Pierre-Alain Killias is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Swiss Association for the Study of Competition, INGRES, Institut für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz and the International technology law association.
