Biography

Laurent Maire obtained his law degree from the University of Lausanne in 1993 and a post-graduate diploma in European law in 1994. After working as an assistant to Prof. Roland Bieber from 1994 to 1995 while taking the HEC (economics) post-graduate certificate course, he worked as a court clerk in the Vaud courts until 1996, when he began a legal traineeship with Pierre Jomini, Paolo Gallone and Jean-Arnaud de Mestral in Lausanne.

Admitted to the Bar in June 1998, he worked as a foreign guest lawyer at Eaton & Van Winkle in New York in 1999, then as an associate at the law firm of Bâtonnier Philippe Richard in Lausanne from 2000 to 2002.

In September 2002, he set up his own law firm, which a few months later became MCE Avocats. Laurent Maire is the author of several publications on fundamental rights and EU citizenship, and taught business law for several years at the Business School of Lausanne.

Laurent Maire is mainly active in the commercial and private client sectors. President of several foundations in the cultural and charitable fields, Laurent Maire also sits on a number of boards of directors. Member of the FSA Member of AGDA Member of TEPP Member of OAV Member of the ASA
